*Our Top Choice*

1. Airhead G-Force

Airhead Towable Tubes ReviewsAirhead G-Force Review

Pros:
– 1-4 Rider Models
– Heavy-duty nylon cover
– Padded Handles
Cons:
– Can dive during fast acceleration

Check Price

The Airhead G-Force is our favorite Airhead tube that we reviewed. It comes in several versions, from a 1-2 rider model up to a 4-rider model.

During our testing, this tube provided wild rides and seemed to defy centrifugal force thanks to its topside stabilizer fins. We found the nylon-wrapped grips to be comfortable and secure The neoprene knuckle guards also prevented any bruised knuckles.

The durability of the Airhead G-Force was a nonissue, because of its heavy-gauge PVC bladder and super durable nylon cover which is double-stitched.

We really loved that the G-Force tube was equipped with a Kwik-Connect and Speed Safety Valve for convenient hook-ups, inflating, and deflating. The size of the tube varies based upon which model you choose.

airhead tube reviews speed safety valve

The only thing that we found negative during our Airhead G-Force review was that it sometimes would dive under the water during fast acceleration. This can be avoided by an alert boat operator or by using a towable booster ball.

Cockpit Tube

2. Airhead Mach

Airhead Mach reviewAirhead Mach Review

Pros:
– Kwik-Connect and Speed Safety Valve
– 1-3 riders
– Comfortable ride
Cons:
– Small seating area

Check Price

The Airhead Mach was our favorite Airhead cockpit tube during our reviews. Cockpit tubes are great for beginners and we recommend them for young riders, as well. This style of tube helps to make the rider feel more secure, since they are inside of, instead of on top of the tube.

Similar to the G-Force mentioned above, the Mach comes in several models to accommodate up to 3 riders. We found that the Airhead Mach provided a good, balanced ride by feeling both wild and sable at the same time. The neoprene knuckle guards, sturdy handles, and inflated floor all gave us a very comfortable ride.

Once again, build quality and durability were a nonissue. The Mach is also made with a heavy gauge PVC bladder wrapped in a nylon cover that was double-stitched. This should provide years of use without issues. This tube also has the Kwik-connect and Speed Safety Valve that Airhead is notorious for.

The only downside that we noted with the Mach was that the seating area is a bit small. This tube would be best suited for children or very small adults.

Cheapest Multi-Rider

3. Airhead Slice

Airhead Slice reviewAirhead Slice Review

Pros:
– Affordable
– 840 Denier Nylon Cover
– 1-4 riders
Cons:
– Can submarine if weight is towards the front

Check Price

The Airhead Slice is the most affordable multi-rider towable tube on our review list. Don’t let the low price fool you, though. This is still a great, durable tube that you and your family will enjoy.

The slice is a traditional round, ride-on-top style of tube. However, what is unique about it is the tapered gusset design. This means that the tube is thicker in front and thinner in back. This unique design offers improved towing characteristics, easy mounting while in the water, and a more comfortable position while riding.

The Airhead Slice is available in several sizes up to a 4-rider model. The nylon cover is super durable and made from 840 denier nylon which is twice as tough as many competitors. We found that the cover was able to stand up to even our most aggressive riders without issues. Even the handles are nylon-wrapped and have knuckle guards.

As with nearly all of the Airhead tubes, the Slice features a Kwik-Connect and Speed Safety Valve.

The only issue that we had while riding this tube was that it can submarine if your weight is shifted towards the front. This is easily remedied by shifting your weight towards the back of the tube.

Tube Kit

4. Airhead Rebel

Airhead Rebel reviewAirhead Rebel Review

Pros:
– Comes with pump and tow rope
– Drain vents
– Reinforced tow harness
Cons:
– Rough ride
– No Speed valve

Check Price

The Airhead Rebel is unique in that you don’t get just the tube, you also get a complete kit with nearly all that you need for a great day of tubing on the lake. In addition to the tube, you also get a 12-volt electric pump and a durable 16-strand tow rope.

The Rebel is a single-rider tube that has familiar Airhead handles and knuckle guards. Some of the nice features that we really liked with the Rebel were the water drain vents, boarding straps, and the tow harness which was triple-reinforced.

Riding the Rebel was not the most comfortable tube on our list, but the 4 handles were nice for different riding positions. The Boston valve is OK, but not as nice as the Speed valve found on other models.

5. Airhead Blast

Airhead Blast reviewAirhead Blast Review

Pros:
– Cheap
– Can lay on or sit in the tube
– Drain vents
Cons:
– Not good for larger riders

Check Price

The Airhead Blast is among the best cheap towable tubes for towing on the market. It is a classic round tube that comes in several models to fit up to 4 riders. What is unique about this tube is the design, which features a divot in the middle for the rider to sit. This tube gives you the option to either lay on top of it or sit in the middle.

We found this tube to be on par with the other Airhead tubes that we tried. The build quality was in line with the others, as it features the same 840-denier nylon cover for superb durability. Another feature that we liked about the Blast tube was the built-in draining vents. In keeping with the quality that we came to expect from Airhead, this tube also has their signature Kwik-Connect and Speed Safety Valve.

It should be noted that only smaller riders will be able to fully sit in the middle of this tube, as the opening is quite small. This tube is overall better suited for smaller riders.

6. Airhead Hot Shot

Airhead Hot Shot reviewAirhead Hot Shot Review

Pros:
– Rugged PVC bladder
– 4 deluxe handles
– Speed Safety Valve
Cons:
– Must lean back to avoid nosediving

Check Price

The Airhead Hot Shot is very similar to the Airhead Rebel that we reviewed above. The Hot Shot is a couple of inches bigger, 57″ vs 54″. This tube is made for 2 small children or one average-sized adult. The Rebel comes with a pump and tow rope for only a little bit extra money, so we think that the Rebel is the better value.

That being said, the construction and build quality of the Hot Shot tube is nearly identical to the Rebel. One thing that we do like a little bit better about the Airhead Hot Shot tube is the thinner profile which makes it a little bit easier to mount when in the water. Another advantage that the Hot Shot has over the Rebel is the Speed Safety valve.

As this is a thin tube, we found that it frequently would nosedive under the water. Leaning back is a must on this tube.

Unique Design

7. Airhead Challenger

Airhead Challenger reviewAirhead Challenger Review

Pros:
– High backrests
– Foam seats & pads
– Sturdy & comfortable
Cons:
– May not be exciting enough for some riders

Check Price

The Airhead Challenger is one of the most unique towable tubes on the market today. It has two high backrests combined with foam seating pads to make for an exceptionally comfortable ride. There is also an area between the seats for another rider which features foam kneeling & laying pads. This allows the center rider to sit, lay, or kneel.

We loved that the Airhead Challenger has dual tow points, 12 double webbing foam handles, and EVA foam body pads. These are all very nice and unique features that you won’t find on competitor tubes.

Since this is such a large tube, we found it to be very sturdy and comfortable for riders of all skill levels. And, of course, we love the Kwik-Connect and Speed Safety Valve.

We think this is a great tube for those who enjoy a more calm ride. On the flip side, those who like a more exciting ride should opt for a different tube.

8. Airhead Hot Dog

Airhead Hot Dog reviewAirhead Hot Dog Review

Pros:
– Comfortable ride
– 1-5 riders
Cons:
– Potential for riders to bang heads

Check Price

The Airhead Hot Dog is yet another fun, unique towable tube design. What makes this tube different is that instead of the riders sitting side by side, they sit in a single line style on this tube. Perhaps the greatest feature of the Hot Dog tube is that there is a model that can accommodate up to 5 riders.

What we really liked about this tube was the EVA pads and comfortable handles, which add to riding comfort. This tube also gave us a more relaxed ride, since it doesn’t go side to side nearly as much as the other tubes that we tested.

The biggest issue that we had with the Airhead Hot Dog tube was that at higher speeds, there is the chance that riders will bump each other’s heads, due to the seating configuration. For example, if you drive over a wave, any two of the rider’s heads could easily smash into the others.

Best For Kids

9. Airhead Viper

Airhead Viper reviewAirhead Viper Review

Pros:
– Best towable tube for kids
– Safe, comfortable ride
Cons:
– No Kwik-Connect

Check Price

The Airhead Viper is one of the best towable tubes for kids. The cockpit style of this tube allows the riders to sit inside of the tube, providing a safe and secure feeling while riding.

The Airhead Viper is only made for 2 riders, but it is still durably constructed from the same heavy-duty nylon and materials as the other Airhead tubes.

Our kids enjoyed riding the Viper and the ride was just enough excitement for them without being overly rough.

Be aware that this tube does not come with a Kwik-Connect.

Best For Young Children

10. Airhead EZ Ski

Airhead EZ Ski reviewAirhead EZ Ski Review

Pros:
– Best towable tube for young children
– Great for beginners
Cons:
– Some may find it smaller than expected

Check Price

The Airhead EZ Ski is the best towable tube for young children just getting started with tubing. The tube is designed like a jet ski, providing the perfect sitting position for a young, beginner rider.

We thought that the best thing about this tube was the seat. When your child hits some rough water or gets a little off-balance, they can simply sit down. This will help to build confidence in your young rider.

Your child can board the tube from either the swim step or stern of the boat, so there is no swimming required. The design of the tube allows the child to stand or sit at their own pace and level of comfort.

We found that the Airhead EZ Ski was excellent for training our youngest riders. The tube is stable and provides a smooth, consistent ride, which is what new a new rider needs.

This tube is rather small, so do keep that in mind if you plan to purchase it.

Airhead Towable Tubes Reviews Buyer’s Guide

When buying an Airhead towable tube you want to take several things into consideration. Primarily, you want to look at the number of riders that the tube can accommodate along with the design of the tube, the skill level of the rider, and the features of the tube.

Tube Design

There are several primary designs of towable tubes.

The first style is are ride-on-top models, such as the G-Force, Slice, Rebel, and Hot Shot. This towable tube design is for more advanced riders. They provide a more rough and exciting ride, thus they take more skill to control and to stay mounted.

Next up are the cockpit-style tubes, like the Mach, Challenger, and Viper. These tubes allow the rider to sit inside of the tube. These tubes are great for beginners and younger riders, as they provide a smoother ride and a sense of safety.

The final category of tubes can only be classified as “other”. They don’t fit either of the two previous design styles. These include the Hot Dog and EZ Ski. Their unique designs are often tailored to a specific type of rider, such as the EZ Ski for younger children.

Rider Skill Level

When selecting a towable tube, it is important that you consider the skill level of the rider. Most of the traditional round sit-on-top style of tubes are better suited for more advanced riders. On the other hand, the cockpit-style tubes are designed for more novice riders. Choosing a tube that is beyond the experience level of the rider can lead to a bad tubing experience, including possible injury. For the best experience, pick a tube that matches the skill level of the rider.

Tube Features

Some tubes have unique features, such as padded seating areas, comfortable handles, water vents on the floor, easy-to-operate valves, and quick connections. These are features that are often not found on competitor tubes. While they do add a bit to the cost of the tube, all of these can greatly improve your overall tubing experience and are worth the added cost.

Most, but not all, Airhead tubes come with Kwik-Connect and Speed Safety Valves.

Conclusion

We hope that you have found our Airhead towable tubes reviews helpful. We really enjoyed testing each of these tubes. We’re positive that your family will enjoy them as much as we did.

As you can see, Airhead makes some of the best towable tubes on the market today. Regardless of your skill level, Airhead has a tube design for you. Simply follow the buying advice that we presented here and you will able to choose the best tube for you based upon your needs and experience.
